A Birds-Eye view of my life
Often there is a disconnect between the way people seem, and the way that people are. Everone has a story about someone they thought - before truly getting to know an individual - would be a good friend, yet they eneded up being way different than what was presented. This retaility has surely become more true in the golden age of social-media and we are all tempted to 'post' the best versions of our 'happy lives' for the world to see. Often i find myself in that boat: but it is not my aim and I take strides everyday to change in this area.
My aim and hope is that who I present myself to be from afar, when you meet me, and even on social media - would be no different than the person that you grow to know over a long period of time. The only way I can acheive this is by being forward about the things I, Andrew Calvert, struggle with at the outset. My goal is to wear the mistakes of my past as a reminder of how I've improved, recognize my current short-commings as a reason to press on and improve, and to encourage those who know me best to point out ways they think I can improve.
From afar there are many things I want people to know about me. But more than anything else, I want people to know:
My life is not about me.
My life is about Jesus.
Jesus saved me, from myself, and to a life for Him.
He can do the same for you.
I have a long way to go (probably the rest of my life) so that people primarily know me by the bold words above.
But it is worth it to to strive the rest of my life to be known by such a truth.
A truth that trancends generations and will be true long after I'm gone.
A truth that carrries heavy realities and real hope.
A truth I want my son to know more than anything else.
If i die tomorrow, I hope the people that barely even knew my name would be impacted by the name I have dedicated my life to making much of - the name of Jesus.
